The project is aimed at arming members of six local schools’ representative council of learners (RCL) with the necessary leadership tools to enhance their existing skills and abilities (“Group committed to making leaders of young people”, DistrictMail, 21 March).

It runs until October and is supported by Somerset West police. The schools participating in the project are Gordon High, Nomzamo High, Rusthof Secondary, Simanyene Secondary, Strand Secondary and Khanyolwethu High.

Each school will be represented by seven RCL members, including the head boy and girl, and a representative from each grade.
